Ihram & Niyyah (Intention)

Entering the sacred state before the Miqat boundary

الإِحْرَام وَالنِّيَّة

Ihram is the sacred state of spiritual purity required before entering the Haram boundary. It involves entering the Miqat, making the intention (Niyyah), and continuously reciting the Talbiyah.

📋 Detailed Ritual Instructions

Clip nails, trim unwanted hair, and perform a full-body Ghusl (recommended Sunnah).

Men put on the two unstitched white sheets (Izar and Rida) and sandals exposing ankles. Women wear normal modest clothing without face-veils (Niqab) or gloves.

Pray 2 rak'ahs of Sunnah (or an obligatory prayer) at the Miqat before making the intention.

Pronounce the Niyyah for Umrah: 'Labbayk Allahumma Umrah' (Here I am, O Allah, for Umrah).

Continuously chant the Talbiyah out loud (men) or softly (women) until you see the Kaaba.

Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayka la sharika laka Labbayk, Innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, La sharika lak.

“Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am! Here I am, You have no partner, here I am! Verily, all praise, grace, and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner!”
